Plasma pen skin tightening treatment

What is plasma skin tightening?

Plasma Pen is the newest cosmetic procedure to combat wrinkles, loss of collagen, and sagging skin. As we age, the dermal layer of our skin thins, we produce less collagen, and we lose elasticity. All of these factors produce sagging and wrinkling of the skin. The Plasma Pen is a soft-surgery procedure targeting a wide variety of skin conditions including loss of elasticity, sagging, and wrinkles that have been traditionally treated with fillers or plastic surgery.

This innovative technology utilizes plasma, formed through ionization of atmospheric gasses to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of skin fibers and collagen production.  This technology does not use scalpel or laser to remove excess skin, thereby avoiding all risks inherent to the traditional intervention.  The treatment is performed through minute spots made with a pen type device at a certain distance one from the other to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of skin fibers.  Each of these spots sublimates the superficial coenocytes without affecting the basal lamina and without causing bleeding and more importantly without causing any damage to the surrounding tissue and the ones beneath.

FAQ's:

What ares of the body can be treated with plasma pen?

• Eyelid reconstruction, including resolving baggy lower eyelids  and excess

• Upper eyelid skin

• Skin imperfections and benign lesions, including skin tags and sunspots

• Improvement in the appearance of scarring, including post-  surgery scars, acne scars

• Diminishing Stretch marks

• Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy

• Lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

• Facelift and neck lift

How long does it last?

As Plasma Skin Tightening is more than a simple tightening treatment so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of plasma treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further aging, but, the positive results should last you years depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen after 4 weeks. For some, additional treatments may be required after 6 weeks for maximum results.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required will vary according to the condition being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 3 months. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results, although it is uncommon to require more than two treatments. Appointments must be spaced out 6-8 weeks.

Plasma Pen vs. Cosmetic Surgery

  • No injectable anesthetic required
  • No scalpel, no cutting and no ablation of the skin
  • No stitches and no scars
  • Very low risk procedure with minimal side effects
  • Short downtime
  • No thinning of the skin and more uniform that ablative resurfacing using lasers
  • No asymmetries and no risks of any overcorrection
  • Cost effective
  • Long lasting results – usually around 2-3 years and can be permanent

How long will it take to see results?

Plasma Pen skin tightening results are impressive but should not be proposed as an alternative to surgery in cases of moderate to severe skin laxity. Only surgery can achieve these kinds of results. You will typically see immediate tightening along with cumulative improvements over the next three months in the appearance of saggy skin. In some cases it may require more than one session depending on the desired results.

Is the plasma pen treatment painful?

Plasma Pen is mildly to moderately uncomfortable. Everyone’s pain level is different and some areas of the body are more sensitive than others. Numbing cream is helpful in reducing the discomfort during treatment.

What are the risks of plasma pen?

The Plasma Pen is a relatively safe treatment, particularly when compared to more invasive cosmetic procedures. However, no procedure is without risks and it’s important to review and understand the contraindications and risks. Risks include:

  • Swelling and bruising
  • Scabbing and crusting
  • Skin discoloration
  • Scarring

Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.

What downtown can I expect after my plasma pen treatment?

There IS downtime. “Downtime” is very subjective. What you think “looks bad” and/or is “uncomfortable” can be very different from someone else’s perception. If you are comparing it to cosmetic surgery, then no, the downtime is minimal. If you are comparing it to a light chemical peel where no one can tell you did anything and you are just a bit flaky everywhere, then no.

  • Redness, swelling and scabbing in the treatment area
  • Average of 8 days downtime on the face and neck areas
  • Average of 10 to 14 days on the body, depending on the area being treated and the intensity of the treatment
  • Swelling usually begins the day following your treatment, and peaks around day 3
  • After day 3, swelling subsides and scabs form.
  • Scabs normally begin to fall off around day 6 and 7 (for face and neck)

Please be aware that the days indicated are simply guidelines for average healing time. Healing time and results may be negatively compromised by not following the after care protocol: no drinking alcohol, no smoking and no picking/scrubbing. If your health is compromised in any way, this can also extend your healing time and negatively affect your results.

What skin types may not be good candidates for plasma pen treatment?

Darker skin tones (African American, African, Latin, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Asian ancestry and people of mixed ethnicities) may not good candidates for Plasma Pen.
